Paint: Changing image size – instructions

by Tobias

You can change the image size in Paint with just a few clicks. This can be done either as a percentage or to the exact pixel – we explain exactly how it works in this practical tip.

Changing the image size in Paint – here’s how

There are several ways to adjust the size of an image in the easy-to-use image editing program Paint:

  • If you want to enlarge or reduce the size of a canvas, simply click and drag the small boxes on the right and bottom edges of the image.
  • However, if you want to stretch or drag the image, open the “Resize” menu. You will find the button at the top of the menu bar under “Image.”
  • On the first tab, you can enlarge or reduce the image by a percentage. You can also decide whether you want to maintain the aspect ratio or change it. If the “Maintain aspect ratio” box is checked, you only need to specify one value. The second value will be adjusted automatically.
  • Switch to “To: Pixels” at the top to set the exact size of the image. Here, you can also choose whether you want to adjust the aspect ratio or set it yourself.
  • To use inches or centimeters instead of pixels as the unit of measurement, navigate to “File > Properties” in Paint and select the desired unit of measurement.
