Intermittent fasting: 3 app recommendations for greater success

by Mike

Intermittent fasting apps can make it easier for you to achieve your goals. They allow you to quickly keep track of your fasting times or adjust them if necessary. We introduce you to some of the apps in more detail.

Intermittent fasting apps: set goals with Clear

In intermittent fasting, you abstain from eating and drinking for a certain period of time. Only water or other drinks with very few or no calories are allowed during the fasting periods. The aim is often to lose weight. But this fasting method is also said to have other health benefits. Apps can help you stick to your fasting plan. One option is the Clear app

.

  • When you open the app for the first time, you first have to answer a few questions about your experience with intermittent fasting, your goals, your gender, your weight and the time of your last meal of the day.
  • Clear then suggests a fasting plan, for example the familiar 16/8 model. However, you can also change and adapt the fasting variant at a later date.
  • The free version allows you to select fasting periods of up to 19 hours a day.
If you want to fast for longer, i.e. between 20 and 23 hours a day, you will need to purchase the paid Plus version.

  • You can also add notes, your current weight and the amount you have already drunk in the app.
  • You can read the basics about the app and intermittent fasting in articles in the app or view them in the form of stories, as they are known from social media platforms.
  • Clear also offers an overview of your previous fasting successes and a diary.
  • You can also set how and whether Clear should notify you about the start and end of your fasting phases.
  • On the start page, you can start your fast after your last meal and change the start times of your fasting phases.

Intermittent fasting the easy way with BodyFast

Another app that can help you with intermittent fasting is BodyFast.

  • BodyFast also asks you about your experience with fasting, your goals, your gender and other data.
  • You can then choose from standard plans (e.g. 16/8 fasting), special plans (e.g. weekend fasting) and autophagy plans (focus on cell repair and detoxification).
You can also edit and customize the exact times.

  • With the paid Coach, you have a larger selection of fasting plans and functions.
  • On the start page, you can see directly whether you are currently in a fasting period or can eat something and how much time you have left until your next fasting phase begins or the current one ends.
  • Under Achievements, you can see how long you have been doing intermittent fasting and which trophies you have already received – for example, for fasting for a week.
  • Under the “Knowledge” tab, you will also find answers to a few questions about intermittent fasting and the app.
  • Under the “Me” tab, you can enter your current weight. You can also enter your upper arm circumference or hip circumference, for example, using the cogwheel in the top right-hand corner and then under “Personal details”.

Intermittent fasting with Fastic for vegans & Co.

Another app designed to make intermittent fasting easier for you is Fastic.

    • Unlike the other two apps, Fastic first asks you for your name. The app will then address you by the name you enter.
    • After Fastic has asked you about your goals, the app also wants to know what has prevented you from achieving them so far.
    • If you want to lose weight, you then have to enter your gender, age, height, weight and target weight. The app also asks about the times you normally eat for the first and last time each day.
    • You can also specify a dietary style, for example vegetarian or keto.
    • Fastic also wants to know whether you have diabetes, suffer from anorexia or bulimia or are pregnant or breastfeeding, and advises you to speak to your GP about this before fasting. The first steps are therefore much more extensive than with Clear or BodyFast, but the focus here is on safety.
    • The app then creates a plan for you and explains which physical and mental phases you can expect during this time.
    • You can also track the amount of water you drink in the app.
    • You can also invite friends to motivate each other.
    • Fastic also includes an overview of whether you are currently in an eating phase or a fasting phase.
In the latter, you can see a countdown of how long you still have to fast. The app also explains what is happening in your body during the fasting phase.

    • You can unlock additional content with the paid version Fastic Plus.
