Easter Eggs in Starfield: The best allusions at a glance

by Pramith

The space RPG Starfield comes up with a multitude of Easter Eggs, which not only contain allusions from Bethesda’s game catalogue.

These are the Easter Eggs for other games in Starfield

Bethesda Game Studios didn’t miss the chance to hide allusions to games from their own game catalogue, but also Easter Eggs to games from other developers in Starfield.

  • A Fallout 4 Easter Egg can be found on Titan, the largest moon of Saturn. Here, a museum has been set up where, in addition to the Easter Egg, other relics from the solar system have been collected. The object of desire, however, is a baseball on whose plaque a game from Boston circa 1978 is referenced. In Fallout 4, the city of Diamond City in Boston was founded in a stadium built at that time.
  • One of the most famous memes from Skyrim, that of the damaged town guard who had to give up adventuring due to an arrow wound in the knee, can be found in Starfield. In the skill overview, you will find the allusion in the combat tree on the lowest level. There you will find the Cripple skill, which at rank 4 has the emblem of an arrow penetrating a knee.
  • Fans of the game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will enjoy the “Adoring Fan”, which once again adores players at every turn in Starfield. In order to enjoy the fan, who has the same voice as the NPC from Oblivion, you must select the Hero Worship trait when creating your character. The fan can be used both actively as a companion on journeys or as part of the ship’s crew.
  • Todd Howard, Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios, has dubbed a few dialogues in the English voice output of the game. For example, the advertising announcement of the Stroud Eklund shop in the town of Neon.
  • If you’ve played the game Death Stranding, what a certain NPC in the town of New Atlantis says about his day-to-day work will look suspiciously familiar. Johann is an employee of the UC Distribution Center, who is mainly busy delivering things in the populated star systems. His dialogue is strongly reminiscent of the porters from the game by Kojima Productions.

Easter Eggs related to other media and themes in Starfield

In addition to various Easter Eggs related to other games, Starfield also features allusions to movies, music and events from human history.

  • If you come across a potato in Starfield, it’s worth reading the item description more closely. A quote from the hobbit Samwise Gamgee, known from Lord of the Rings, has been hidden here.
  • Once you have travelled to our solar system, called Sol, in the game, you will find remains of the Apollo 11 mission on the moon. To get there, you should first read the book Sir Livingston’s Second Diary in the Lodge in New Atlantis. This will unlock a landing point on the moon, which will lead you directly to the remains of the moon mission.
  • The Mars Rover, also a relic from our space history, can be accessed if you have previously visited the Rocket Launch Tower on Earth in Florida. In the tower you will find a replica of the rover that you can interact with. Afterwards, you will receive a quest that will lead you to the real Mars Rover on said planet. In addition to the original, you will also find a snow globe that acts as a collectible item.
  • Throughout the game, you will come across posters of the Sol Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor William Johns. This Easter Egg alludes to the real composer John Williams, who, among other film music, is best known for the iconic Star Wars Theme.
  • Fans of the series Breaking Bad will get their money’s worth in New Atlantis. The city on the planet Jemison is home to an Aurora laboratory. Aurora is the drug par excellence in the world of Starfield and enjoys great popularity. In the lab itself, the employees wear striking yellow protective suits that strongly resemble the suits from the series.
