Multiplayer in Subnautica is possible via the Nitrox mod. To do this, you must install the corresponding software and then create a server
Subnautica: Install Nitrox multiplayer mod
The Nitrox mod for Subnautica is a free project that has an effective launcher.
- You need the installer for the installation. You can download this directly from Nitrox. The download portal shows you the current version of the software
- After downloading, unzip the file. Open the unzipped folder and search for the NitroxLauncher file, which you start by double-clicking on it. Make sure to start it as administrator
- Now link your Subnautica version under Options. The mod supports the Steam, Epic Games and Microsoft Store versions of the game. Subnautica Below Zero is not yet integrated at this time
- The mod is now fully installed. Players from your circle of friends must also install the mod in order to be able to play together with you.
Subnautica Multplayer-Mod Nitrox: Start server and join
Nitrox makes it easy for you to start Subnautica in multiplayer. The launcher already contains a server mechanic that you can use directly.
- The hosting person starts the server for the multiplayer session via the launcher. This is possible via the Server tab
- Click on the START SERVER button. If you are prompted to allow access to the firewall, agree. Otherwise, hosting will be interrupted
- A window opens with the necessary server information such as the server password or the server IP. Other players only need the server IP to join you.
- Then switch to the Play Game tab. Click on the PLAY Multiplayer button to start the session.
- Subnautica will now open. In the main menu, click on Multiplayer to start a new game, regardless of whether you are hosting or joining.
- If you are not the hosting person, enter the server ID under Host and the desired server name in the next fender. Then add the server
- Then select the server to join it. Now you can explore the underwater world of Subnautica together with others.
- Attention: The multiplayer mod is still in an early stage of development. For this reason, new functions and adjustments may be added from time to time or server problems may occur from time to time.
