Cleaning the DeLonghi milk frother: This is how to do it.

by Mike

You should clean an integrated DeLonghi milk frother after every use. This way you avoid unappetising deposits and the appliance stays intact for longer.

Cleaning the DeLonghi Milk Frother: step by step

After each preparation of milk foam, you should clean your DeLonghi milk frother. Milk residues and deposits in the frothing system can not only be unsightly and pathogenic. The life of the milk frother can also be shortened by encrusted milk residue.

  • First you need to remove the milk container from the machine. Depending on the model, the container may be attached differently in the system. Most newer models are only connected to the machine via the milk pipe and can be removed very easily.
  • The next step is to remove the mechanics of the milk frother from the machine. This includes the suction tube and the dispensing tube. Turn the adjustable foam regulator as far as it will go to the right and then you can easily remove it.
  • You can now clean everything you have dismantled up to this point with warm water and, if necessary, with a gentle sponge. The detergent should not be too aggressive so as not to damage the material.
  • Alternatively, you can also clean the individual parts of a DeLonghi milk foamer in the dishwasher. To prevent the parts from getting into the rotors, the cutlery basket is ideal.
  • Whether by hand or with the dishwasher: check afterwards that all milk residues have disappeared from the system and rinse again if necessary. If you want to be on the safe side, you can run water through the cleaned system afterwards.

What to consider when doing a big clean

You should clean the system of a DeLonghi milk foamer with a milk system cleaner at regular intervals. However, to prevent hoses and seals from becoming porous, a cleaner should not be used daily. One big clean a week is perfectly sufficient to keep the system clean.

  • For cleaning with milk foam cleaner, removal of the milk container or mechanism is also necessary and is best done when the system is cold.
  • Mix the cleaner with water if necessary and pour the mixture into a sufficiently large container. The cleaner ensures that the container and hoses do not calcify and thus have a longer life.
  • Insert the hoses, nozzles and milk container into the solution. Make sure that the hoses inside do not develop a vacuum and are also filled with the solution. The best time to do this is in the evening so that the system can remain inserted overnight.
  • The next day, rinse the system well and remove all residues of the cleaning agent. To be on the safe side, fill the system once with clean water and run it through the machine before preparing your next milk foam.
