Such a relaxing bath is nice once in a while. Especially after a hard day when you just want to switch off.
- The amount of water you use when bathing depends entirely on the size of the bathtub. On average, however, conventional bathtubs are filled with about 150 litres of water.
- With a water price of about 0.2 cents per litre (as of 2022), a pure bathtub filling costs about 30 cents. To this must be added the energy costs for heating the water. However, the costs vary depending on the heating medium.
- If you use the bathtub about 30 times a year, you will have annual water costs of 9 euros. If you use the bathtub less, the water costs are also logically lower.
- If you also rinse off after bathing, you can expect to use an additional 12 to 15 litres of water per minute.
- You can save money by not filling up the bathtub so much.
This is how much water you use when you shower
If you need to do it quickly, a shower makes more sense than a bath in the bathtub.
- For a normal shower, you can expect to use 12 to 15 litres of water per minute.
- If you have a shower with a saving head, on the other hand, it is only six to seven litres per minute.
- So if you shower for about 10 minutes each time, you will have a consumption of 120 litres up to 150 litres for a normal shower. So, similar to the bath, you have a cost of 24 cents to about 30 cents. If you shower about three times a week, the annual water costs will be about 40 euros to 50 euros.
- With an economy shower, on the other hand, you use 60 to 70 litres for a 10-minute shower. Assuming you shower three times a week, you can expect to pay between 20 and 24 euros a year.
