RangeXTD: These are the costs you have to reckon with

by Pramith

If you’re looking for WLAN repeaters on the Internet, you’ve probably come across the RangeXTD. However, the costs of the device are a little confusing. It’s also not easy to see how reputable the company is. We explain everything you need to know.

This is the cost of a RangeXTD (as of June 2021)

Once you’ve found the RangeXTD Wi-Fi booster on the internet, you’ll be presented with several options to buy. If you visit the page, you will also be told that you have been activated for a certain discount. We will explain what this is all about here. The 1×1 of bargain selling is definitely well mastered by the advertising agency.

  • A RangeXTD Wi-Fi booster costs 49.95 euros (original price 99.90 euros).
  • If you buy several units, they become cheaper from the third unit onwards. For three units, you pay 112.39 euros. The regular price is listed at 299.70 euros.
  • If you decide to buy four units, you currently pay 149.85 euros from the regular price of 399.60 euros.
  • Shipping costs between 8,95 Euro and 11,95 Euro, depending on how many units you order.
  • By the way, everyone who visits the site gets said 50% discount.

“Triple your reach” – Can it work?

RangeXTD advertises on their homepage that you can extend the range of your Internet many times over by using the Wi-Fi booster. But is that technically possible at all?

  • Theoretically, yes. However, you should note that each repeater only outputs the WLAN speed of the actual router. If your router is therefore already not particularly fast, the Mbps with such a device will no longer be.
  • Also pay attention to the speed of the RangeXTD. This is stated as 300 MBit/s, which is very little compared to the competition. There are, for example, models that reach over 1,700 MBit/s – more on this later.
  • So if you have a router that is capable of much higher speeds than 300 Mbps, the RangeXTD will not propagate the original speed.
  • In addition, the RangeXTD operates exclusively on a 2.4 GHz frequency range, which may cause interference with other devices that share the same bandwidth.

Is RangeXTD reputable? Here are possible alternatives

Whether you ultimately find the company RangeXTD to be reputable is up to you to assess. However, you should consider the following points before buying

  • On the official website of the product, there are selected reviews from users, all of them consistently positive. At least one from “Our Customers” features a stock image. The man with the coffee cup also advertises other products.
  • Under the payment methods, the manufacturer promises a “30-day satisfaction guarantee”. If you are not satisfied, you can return the unit at your own expense (shipping and handling) within 30 days. “Simply return the item(s) to us for a full refund or possibly a replacement. “
  • But where to send it? Under Contact, only the email address info@rangextd.direct is given, no postal address – and no telephone number either, by the way.
  • If you read the manufacturer’s terms of use carefully, you will see in § 20 that the terms are subject to Lithuanian law. You must therefore agree that Lithuania is the exclusive place of jurisdiction.
  • The combination of email address as the only means of contact combined with the manufacturer’s registered office in Lithuania could make it difficult for you to enforce your right in the event of potential problems.
  • If you don’t want to take the risk, you can simply resort to cheaper alternatives.
  • The Netgear EX8000, for example, gives you speeds of up to 3,000 Mbps and a dedicated 5 GHz frequency range so it won’t interfere with other devices. In addition, there are four Gigabit Ethernet ports that allow you to connect wired devices. However, all these functions also have an impact on the price: the repeater costs around 119 euros.
  • As an inexpensive alternative, you should take a closer look at the AVM FRITZ! Repeater 2400. This repeater also offers a 5 GHz frequency range that transmits at up to 1,733 Mbps and a 2.4 GHz range that transmits at 600 Mbps. It also comes with a practical app and costs around 77 euros.
