How to Activate Gemini: Here’s How

Google’s Gemini is set to replace Assistant on Android devices. This AI tool is versatile and can be activated on your smartphone or tablet in just a few steps.

  1. First, download the “Google Gemini” app to your Android mobile device and open it.
  2. You’ll then see an overview and explanation of the app’s features. Scroll down and click “Next.”
  3. On the next page, you’ll learn what activities Gemini stores, for how long, and how your data is used. Click the “Use Gemini” button.
  4. To replace Google Assistant with Gemini, click the button in the top-right corner to access your profile.
  5. Click “Switch to Google Assistant” and then select Gemini as your digital assistant. From now on, Google Assistant will be replaced by Gemini.

How to Use Gemini as Your Assistant

    • Open the Gemini app and enter your commands as text or by voice.
    • If you’ve set up Google as your default assistant app, you can also give a command by saying “Hey Google.” Gemini will then open automatically.
    • You can also show Gemini photos and ask questions about them. This allows Gemini to take on the role of Google Lens, for example.
    • Other features, such as Google Maps and Google Flights, are also integrated into Gemini. If you ask a relevant question, Gemini can direct you to the appropriate app.
