How to subscribe to a WhatsApp channel
WhatsApp always has new features and options for you. One option is to connect with people or organizations via a WhatsApp channel. This keeps you up to date with news, pictures and videos.
- Open WhatsApp first. Then tap on the “News” tab, which you will find at the bottom of the app.
- In addition to your status and those of your contacts, you will also find an area called “Channels”. Scroll through WhatsApp’s suggestions or discover more channels.
- If you tap on the “Discover more” tab, WhatsApp will present you with a further selection of popular channels. In addition to the channel name, you can also directly see how many followers follow the channel. You can also use the magnifying glass icon at the top of the app to search for other channels yourself.
- You will always find the “Subscribe” button on the right-hand side. If you would like to follow a WhatsApp channel, simply press the button.
How do WhatsApp channels work?
Influencers, media, artists or sports clubs – there are many groups that use WhatsApp channels. Just like on social media platforms, these people or organizations use the channel to provide their followers with news or interesting facts.
- You will receive messages on the messenger at regular intervals. But don’t worry: no one can see that you are following the channel or checking the posts. You only show your interest by participating in surveys or adding emojis to messages
- You do not have the option to reply to pictures, messages or videos. No WhatsApp channel follower can do that. WhatsApp wants to keep the flood of replies and reactions to posts in check
- If you want to deactivate the channel’s notifications, simply select the bell icon that you see in the top bar of the channel. You can of course also reactivate it at any time
