TruthGPT from Musk’s company X.AI – What you really need to know about it.

Elon Musk has many projects, including one called TruthGPT from his company X.AI. TruthGPT is said to have a noble goal, but should still be taken with a grain of salt.

TruthGPT by X.AI – what’s behind the project

Elon Musk has made some headlines in the past, most recently with his messy takeover of Twitter and many questionable leadership decisions. His TruthGPT project better be dealt with well because of this.

  • Those who follow Elon Musk and his activities on Twitter have noticed how often Musk has spoken out in favour of making Twitter a space for free expression.
  • He emphasised not censoring or filtering out anyone in the process. However, this was mainly used to spread hate speech. For example, the use of the N-word increased by 500% at times, as reported by the platform Businessinsider. Hate tweets also increased rapidly, partly because many moderators were fired by Musk.
  • When Musk now talks about a project called TruthGPT, one should be careful. Also because he himself has often shared right-wing content, as Le Monde reports, and is a strong opponent of Joe Biden and American democracy.
  • TruthGPT is supposed to give out the “unbiased truth”, according to Musk, unlike services like ChatGPT, which he says are influenced by a left-wing agenda and are forced to give politically correct answers.
  • He sees chatbots like ChatGPT as a danger to the population because they deliberately share certain political views instead of giving fact-based answers. With TruthGPT, he wants to take countermeasures.
  • Musk himself says he wants to take up the fight against “woke AI” with TruthGPT – “woke” is a term, especially in America in recent years, that Republicans and right-wingers misuse to devalue left-liberal attitudes and their policies.

The differences between TruthGPT and ChatGPT

According to Musk, the biggest difference between the two is that TruthGPT is supposed to tell the truth. In his opinion, that is not the case with ChatGPT due to its conditioning to political correctness.

  • How exactly he intends to achieve this, however, he has not outlined, merely assuring that he will be more transparent than OpenAI, who run ChatGPT.
  • Also, a release date for TruthGPT does not yet exist.
  • So far, Musk is keeping a very low profile, despite promising more transparency than OpenAI.
  • Since the term “political correctness” is often synonymous with not spreading hate speech or discrimination, it is conceivable that TruthGPT will have fewer censorship and filtering features. After all, this was also the first step taken by Twitter.
  • So whether TruthGPT will spread similar discriminatory content as it did on Twitter remains to be seen.
