For the fans of FC Bayern Munich Uli Hoeneß is a cult figure. His conviction for tax evasion has done nothing to change this. To this day, the former professional footballer is an integral part of the sporting club’s top echelons.
- According to the Vermögensmagazin Uli Hoeneß is estimated to have assets of 300 million euros as of January 2023.
- The total fine of 43 million euros, which he was sentenced to in 2013 for tax evasion of 28 million euros and for which he was even jailed for 21 months, is unlikely to have hurt him too much, at least financially. Officially, he was meant to serve 3.5 years in prison, but he was released early. This was reported by the BILD newspaper, among others, which even conducted an interview with Hoeneß.

The prison sentence did not harm his professional career. He was previously President of FC Bayern and was re-elected from 2016 to 2019. As he did not seek re-election, he is now Honorary President.
