FritzBox remote access: How to set it up

by Corinna

If you set up FritzBox remote access, you can access your data in your home network and control the FritzBox while on the move. This can also be done conveniently via app. We’ll show you how to set up access

Register with MyFritz

First you need to log in to your FritzBox. To do this, enter the IP of your box in the address bar of your browser. You can find this in the operating instructions. Unfortunately, the address “http://fritz.box” does not currently work. The default password can be found on the bottom of your FritzBox. If you have changed it and forgotten it, you can reset the FritzBox password.

  • Now select on the screen: Internet ☻ MyFRITZ! account
  • Now enter your e-mail address and wait until the FritzBox has completed your registration.
  • Open the e-mail that was sent to you by MyFRITZ! There, click on “Register my FRITZ!Box”.
  • Assign a password and follow the instructions. At the end you can activate the FritzBox remote access.
  • You can then define a user who will be granted access as the default user.

Dynamic DNS, remote access and VPN

If you have set up remote access, you will receive a very inconvenient address. If you want to make things easier, you can set up a dynamic DNS address instead. You may want to deactivate remote access or register your FritzBox in a VPN.

  • For all these options, select “Internet” and then “Shares”.
  • Under “FRITZ!Box” services, you can control remote access.
  • Under “DynDNS” and “VPN”, you can configure settings for a more convenient name or a virtual private network that allows you to surf more securely.
