Microsoft Rewards: What is it?

by Mike

With Microsoft Rewards, your customer loyalty is to be rewarded. The principle has been around for a few years in Germany, but not everyone is familiar with the bonus programme

What’s behind Microsoft Rewards

Most people already know the principle of “collect and redeem points” from Payback. Microsoft has a similar concept for its products: Microsoft Rewards.

  • Microsoft Rewards is a bonus and loyalty programme that you can use with a Microsoft account and register for free.
  • For example, once you have made a purchase in the Microsoft Store, you receive points. When you have collected enough of them, you can redeem them for gifts.
  • You don’t only have to buy Microsoft products to earn points. For example, you can also rent movies or use the Microsoft search engineBing instead of Google. You can also answer quiz questions or take part in quiz games to get points.
  • You can use the points you earn to redeem gift vouchers from the Xbox and Microsoft stores, enter exclusive competitions or donate to charitable projects.

How to earn points with Microsoft Rewards

The most important requirement to become a point collector is to have your own Microsoft account, where you must stay logged in during your Bing searches, for example. You also need to register with Microsoft Rewards.

  • There are two status levels in Microsoft Rewards. Level 1 allows you to earn 3 points per Bing search query. Level 2 is reached and can be retained once you have earned 500 points per month.
  • Depending on which web browser or operating system you use, for example Edge or Windows 10, you can also increase the points. For example, if you use Microsoft Edge for your Bing searches, you can earn up to 5 points per search per day in the first level, 150 per month. In the second level, you can earn up to 20 points per day or up to 600 points per month in Microsoft Edge.
  • For every euro spent in the store, it should be possible to collect between 10 and 20 points on level 2. Those who are still on level 1 will receive one point per euro.
  • If you want to redeem points, you need more than 3000 points in your account for a voucher worth three euros, for example.
  • If you cancel a purchase, the Rewards points you have earned will be automatically returned to you.
  • In addition, if you do not earn any more Rewards Points within 18 months, they will be forfeited.
