Update Samsung TV Apps: Here’s how

by Johannes

If a few apps don’t work on your Samsung TV, an update may be necessary. We show you how to update the apps on Samsung TVs

Configuring automatic app updates on Samsung TV

If the apps on your Samsung TV do not update themselves, the automatic update of the TV apps may be deactivated. With a few clicks, however, the auto-update function is quickly activated:

  • Press the Home button (the button with the house symbol, on newer models a three-dimensional cube) to enter the Smart Hub.
  • Navigate there to the apps.
  • In the top right corner you should now see the cogwheel icon, which will take you to the settings.
  • Once you have clicked on the settings, you should now see “Automatic update”. If you select the box, a green dot will appear to the right of it, confirming that auto-updates have been activated. Your TV apps should update themselves from now on.

Samsung TV: Enable auto-updates for TV software

If you still can’t update the TV apps on your Samsung TV, the TV software auto-update may be disabled. If your TV is not running the latest TV software, you will not be able to install the latest versions of the TV Apps.

  • Open the settings on your Samsung TV using the Home button or Smart Hub button.
  • Navigate to “Support”.
  • If applicable, a window will now appear asking you to accept the T&Cs.
  • Then activate “Automatic update”. Now your Samsung TV will also update the TV software on its own.
