Charging your motorcycle battery can take several hours. The exact charging time depends on several factors, but it is quite easy to determine.
Charging a motorcycle battery: Calculating the charging time
- Depending on the capacity of the motorcycle battery and the power of the charger, the charging times can vary greatly. On average, a full charge takes around 12 hours.
- You can calculate the charging time relatively easily. All you need is the relevant information about the battery and charger. The battery often has a capacity of 12 Ah, and a charger usually delivers 300 mA.
- You can calculate the charging time by dividing the capacity of the battery in mAh by the charging current in mA. In our case, we divide 12,000 by 300 and get 40 hours.
- Since heat is lost during charging, the result must be multiplied by 1.2 to 1.5. Depending on the charger, the heat loss may be greater or smaller.
