Schniblo Day has its origins in the USA. The unofficial holiday was created by a man to compensate for Valentine’s Day.
Schniblo Day: origins in the USA
Under the name “Steak and BJ Day”, this satirical, unofficial holiday was created by radio DJ Tom Birdsey in 2002 during a program on Boston radio station WFNX.
- In the German translation, it became Schnitzel and Blowjob Day, abbreviated to Schniblo Day.
- The day takes place on March 14, exactly four weeks after Valentine’s Day and its traditions.
- In the USA, “Steak and BJ Day” is the male answer to Valentine’s Day. While men show their love to women on this day, women are supposed to show their affection for men with steak and fellatio on Schniblo Day.
- The day is not exclusively for heterosexual couples. It can be celebrated in a humorous way by people of all genders and relationships.
- In addition to the term “Steak and BJ Day”, the variant “Steak and Knobber Day” is also common, which takes up the same concept with a different expression for oral sex.
The unofficial public holiday in Germany
In Germany, the day is not yet as well known as in the USA.
- The term first appeared in this country in 2008.
- Since 2018, it has become a little better known. In March 2018, over 50,000 people in Germany searched for the term Schniblo on Google.
- The best way to spend the day “traditionally” is to approach it with humor. For example, you can bread schnitzel or go to a schnitzel restaurant together. For those on a plant-based diet, vegan schnitzel alternatives based on soy, seitan or pea protein are suitable.
- It should be your mood, not the day, that decides whether oral sex actually happens.
