A poor radio signal ruins your listening experience. But you can easily improve your FM reception. Read on to find out how.
Improve Radio Reception: Set Up Your FM Antenna
Often, your FM radio’s antenna lies unnoticed in the tangle of cables behind the unit. The easiest solution is to unfold the existing whip antenna or try positioning it differently.
Boost the FM signal with a long radio antenna
Alternatively, you can extend the antenna. To do this, strip the insulation from the last centimeter of the antenna cable and connect it to a thin wire. This wire should be about the same thickness as the antenna and must also be stripped at the connection point.
- Get an insulated wire that is about as thick as your radio’s whip antenna.
- Strip the insulation from the last centimeter of the antenna cable and from the end of your wire.
- Now connect the antenna to the bare end of your wire. You can either twist the two wires together or solder them together.
