In the Telegram messenger, you can set up a self-destruct timer in addition to a secret chat. We explain how this works in the following practical tip.
Setting up a self-destruct timer for a Telegram chat
The self-destruct timer deletes your messages in the Telegram chat after a time you have set yourself.
- First, set up a secret chat.
- Tap the clock icon in the chat.
- Select a time for the self-destruct timer. You can choose a duration ranging from seconds up to a week, or optionally switch the timer off again.
- Please note that messages will be deleted at this time even if they have not been read beforehand.
