Instagram: Draw a raffle – here’s how

by Corinna

If you plan a competition on Instagram, you will also have to draw lots for it later. We show you which options there are for raffles and how you can determine a winner in a fair way.

Instructions: Draw a prize on Instagram

If you have already organised the competition, all you have to do now is choose a winner. To avoid influencing the choice yourself, you can leave the selection to chance.

  • The first thing you can do on the Commentpicker website is log in to your Instagram account to give access to all the comments.
  • Now open your Instagram profile on your PC or mobile phone and select the desired post. Copy the URL on your PC or tap the button with the three dots on your mobile and select the option “Copy link”.
  • Paste the URL on the web page and click on the “Start” button. You will then be shown a random comment including the name of the profile.
  • You can now notify the winner of their good fortune.

Various types of Instagram sweepstakes

  • The classic sweepstakes runs on Instagram via comments and likes. Ask your followers to comment on one or more pictures at will or with a specific word
  • Alternatively, you can also ask your followers to send you their own picture. This will then be provided with a hashtag that is as individual as possible. Tip: Have yourself additionally linked under the pictures so that you can find them again more quickly.
  • You can also organise a competition via the Instagram story. If participants respond to your Story, this is very easy and convenient, but the external effect is rather low.

Legal information for competitions on Instagram

  • Instagram itself sets some conditions for sweepstakes. The only thing that is really relevant here is that you must not encourage other users to tag themselves or their friends in pictures where they are not even visible.
  • The German law against unfair competition (UWG) additionally requires the display of conditions of participation. You can write these directly in the post or outsource them via a link to your website or a blog.
  • It must be clear who may enter, when the competition begins and ends, what is to be won, how the winners will be selected, how the winners will be notified and after how many days the prize will be forfeited if the winner does not get back to you.
