Hand emojis: Here are the different ones
There are various hand emojis, which are used in different situations depending on their meaning. The emojis are available in different skin tones. To change the skin tone, press and hold the relevant emoji.
- 👍: This emoji is probably one of the most widely used emojis. You can use it to express approval.
- 👎: The opposite of this is, of course, the thumbs-down, which you use when you don’t like something.
- 🙌: This emoji is meant to represent hands raised in celebration. You can use it, for example, to express your joy. In some cases, the emoji can also symbolise framing hands. This shows that the object the emoji refers to is beautiful.
- 🖕: The middle finger is used as an insult, but can also be meant in a joking manner amongst friends.
- 👌: This emoji essentially means that everything is fine or okay. Please note, however, that this symbol can be interpreted differently depending on the context or culture. For example, in some countries, the symbol is considered an insult.
- 🫶: The heart-hands emoji shows two hands forming a heart. It represents affection or solidarity and is often used to express positive feelings and a sense of connection.
- 🤝: This emoji symbolises a handshake. It is used to express agreement or to indicate cooperation or an understanding.
- 🙏: This emoji symbolises the gesture of prayer. However, it can also be used to mean ‘thank you’ or as a ‘high five’.
- 💪: By flexing your bicep, you show that you are satisfied with something or feel strong.
- 🤏: The ‘small’ gesture is meant to symbolise that something is small.
- 🤙: This symbol represents the traditional telephone gesture. It can mean as much as “give me a call”.
- 🤲: With the palms facing upwards, this can be interpreted in various ways. It can symbolise an open book. In Islam, the emoji can also be used as a symbol for prayer.
More hand emojis
As well as the hand emojis mentioned above, there are others in which hands play an important role.
- 🤗: The happy face holds out both hands to symbolise a hug. You can use it, for example, to offer someone encouragement or comfort.
- 🤭: You can use this emoji to express shock or surprise.
- 🥱: The yawning face shows that you’re feeling tired or sleepy. However, it can also express boredom.
- 🤔: You can use this emoji to show that you’re thinking about something or feeling unsure.
- New emojis are being added all the time. You should therefore check your smartphone regularly to see if an iOS or Android software update is available, so that you can use the very latest emojis.
