When transferring a Spotify account, the main focus is on playlists you’ve already created. To do this, however, you must first have created a new account.
How to transfer a Spotify account: Option 1
If you want to transfer a Spotify account, you should first bear in mind that most methods can only be carried out using the desktop version of the app. The mobile version requires third-party tools, which are not recommended here, however.
- For the manual method, first open the desktop app.
- First, you must ensure that the playlists in your old account are set to ‘public’. Otherwise, the transfer won’t work. This is usually indicated above the name of the playlist.
- Next, copy the relevant link for the playlist into a text file. You can do this via the three dots next to the download arrow. You’ll find the link under the ‘Share’ option.
- In the next step, log in to your new account and paste the link into the search bar. Once you’ve pressed the Enter key, the playlist should now appear.
- To copy it, create a new playlist. In the old one, select all the songs using Ctrl+A and right-click. Under “Add to Playlist”, you can now link the songs to the new playlist.
Searching for a Spotify account: Option 2
For the second method, you must also ensure that all playlists are set to public. On a PC, right-click on the playlist visible in the bar on the left-hand side of the app. You’ll now find the “Publish” option at the top of the fourth column.
- In the search bar, enter the username of your old account. You’ll find this in your account settings.
- In your old profile, you can also generate a direct link to the profile via the three dots. You can also edit the profile there.
- Under the ‘Public Playlists’ section, you will now find the playlists you wish to copy to your new profile.
- Just as in the first part, select the songs using Ctrl+A and add them to a new playlist in the other account.
