Snapchat: Inserting music into videos – this is how it works

by Flo

Inserting music into Snapchat videos is quite simple. However, the music selection is limited. However, you can get around this with a simple trick. We show you both methods.

Insert music into Snapchat video – this is how it’s easy

Snapchat has signed contracts with various labels so that you can add licensed music to your Snapchat videos.

– Launch the app and go to the camera screen in the app.

– At the top right, where you’ll also find the icon to switch between rear and front camera, among other things, you’ll find a music note icon.

– Click on this to display a list of music tracks. Select a track.

– Select the desired part of the track and tap the circle icon to record your video.

– Then you can share the video or save it to your smartphone.

Snapchat videos with unlicensed music

If the function is not available in your Snapchat version or you have not found a suitable song, there is another option to add music to the video.

– Simply play the desired piece of music on your smartphone and record your Snapchat video while doing so. The music played back will be automatically recorded as well.

– Whether you use iTunes, Spotify or other streaming services for this doesn’t matter in the end. The main thing is that the music is played loud enough in the room during the recording.

– This trick works especially well with the iPhone because the microphone is placed right next to the speakers (from iPhone 5). This makes the sound quality very acceptable – especially for Snapchat videos.

– On Android smartphones, music playback is usually interrupted as soon as you record a video with Snapchat. So this trick does not work here. Unless you use another device to play the music. For example, via a stereo system or PC.
