Civ VI mods expand the scope of the 4X classic or customize the game to your liking. The installation succeeds without any prior knowledge required.
Civ VI: How to install mods
Civilization VI makes it easy for you to install mods. Simply use the Steam Workshop.
- Open Steam and go to the library. Then search for Civilization VI and select it
- In the game hub you will find the Workshop option. Select this to access the Steam Workshop for the game.
- Within the Civ VI Workshop you will find a large number of mods that you simply have to subscribe to in order to install them. Select a modification and click on it
- Once you have opened the mod description, click on the Subscribe button. The modification will now be added to your mod list and Steam will automatically start downloading it.
- Once the download is complete, open Civilization VI and click on Additional Content in the launcher. You will now see a list of all the DLC and mods available to you
- You can either activate or deactivate all mods using the corresponding button. Activate individual mods via the description. Then start the game with the selected mods.
- Note: Manually downloaded mods from forums or other mod sites such as Nexus Mods can simply be unpacked into the mod folder. This can usually be found in the MyGames folder in the documents.
Civ VI: The 5 best mods presented
Civilization VI offers numerous mods with which you can customize your game. We present the five best ones in the following list:
- One of the best overhauls is the GoldenAge – Brave New World mod. The mod adds new game modes, mechanics and improved AI. GoldenAge is also recommended if you want to play with fewer cities
- Yet (not) Another Maps Pack provides you with a variety of new maps and options to customize them. You can select up to 63 civilizations with the mod. There are also culturally and historically correct starting locations
- You can get a better overview of the bonuses and yields of your resource fields using the Resource Info mod. If you hover over a resource with the mouse, you will receive a wealth of information about it.
- Detailed Map Tacks offers you even more information to help you plan your empire effectively. The individual pins provide you with the potential yields of adjacent fields, allowing you to optimize your planning.
- If you want to shake up the battlefield, you should try Steel and Thunder: Unit Expansion. This mod adds eight global units such as longsword fighters or trebuchets. As a result, certain eras such as the Middle Ages are much better balanced
