Sims 4: Script request failed – what can you do now?

by Tobias

If you receive an error message in The Sims 4 that a script request has failed, this is usually due to a damaged game file.

How to solve a failed script request in The Sims 4

The “script request failed error” occurs in connection with furniture, doors, mods and CC, i.e. custom content, when a game file of The Sims 4 is corrupted. If you are not using mods, restarting the game should fix the error. If you are using mods, you will need to update them before actually fixing the error.

  • Open the Origin client and go to “My Game Library. “
  • Right-click on the Sims 4 icon to open the context menu. Select “Repair” here.
  • Damaged game files will be repaired this way and the error “Script request failed” should no longer occur.
  • If the error persists, you still have the option of resetting The Sims 4 to the factory settings. To do this, open the file manager on your computer and select the Electronic Arts folder. It should be located in “My Documents”.
  • Find the The Sims 4 folder. Copy the folder, put it in another location, such as the desktop, and rename the folder, for example, “The Sims 4 Backup”.
  • Return to the original “The Sims 4” folder in “My Documents” and delete this folder. Also delete the Recycle Bin and then restart the computer.
  • If you start The Sims 4, the game will start without the content you saved and without mods.
  • If the game runs smoothly, restore your backup. To do this, delete the new “The Sims 4” folder in the Electronic Arts folder.
  • Copy the folder you previously copied and placed on the desktop and paste it into the Electronic Arts folder.
  • Rename the folder “”The Sims 4 Backup” to “The Sims 4”.
