How to tell if wrapping paper is allowed in the paper bin
Around birthdays, anniversaries and weddings, there is often a lot of packaging waste. This makes it all the more important to ensure that it is disposed of properly.
- Before you finally dispose of wrapping paper, you can sort out sheets of paper that are in good condition and save them for reuse. You can do the same with the bows and ribbons. This way you reduce waste, save money and always have gift wrapping at hand when things have to be done quickly.
- If the wrapping paper is plain, printed and uncoated, you can throw it in the paper bin with a clear conscience. You can also dispose of non-plastic packaging such as cardboard boxes and cartons there.
- If the wrapping paper is coated with plastic or metal, it belongs in the residual waste bin. Metal-coated paper is difficult to fold and relatively rigid. You can recognise plastic-coated paper because it is more difficult to tear and stretches at the edges.
- If you want to be on the safe side, it’s best to look for recyclable wrapping paper when buying, or buy paper made from paper that has already been recycled.
- When it comes to gift wrapping, there’s nothing to stop your own creativity. Simply use what you already have at home as loving gift wrapping. For example, newsprint, wrapping paper, children’s drawings, sheet music that is no longer needed and much more can be used.
