Fritz Repeater does not connect – what to do?

by Johannes

If your router no longer connects to the Fritz repeater, this can have several causes. We will show you how to solve the problem.

Fritz repeater has no connection: Eliminate sources of interference

  • If there is no connection to the repeater, you should move it closer to the router. Try to establish a connection and then move the unit again.
  • Thick concrete walls or metal doors can interfere with the wireless connection between the two devices. Therefore, create as clear a path as possible.
  • Neither next to the router nor next to the repeater should there be metal objects or other radio devices such as a telephone. A microwave also interferes with reception.

Setting the WLAN repeater correctly

  • If there are many WLANs in your area, you should change the radio channel. If the channel is very busy, the range will decrease. You can find instructions for the FritzBox in this separate practical tip.
  • If none of this helps, you can reset the repeater. You can read how to do this in the operating instructions for the device. With the Fritz repeaters from AVM, simply hold down the WPS button for 15 seconds until the lights flash.
  • The repeater is then reset. Once the process is complete, you can set up the unit again.
