How the Postcode Lottery works

The rules of the Postcode Lottery are simple. The lottery is organized by Postcode Lotterie DT gGmbH, based in Düsseldorf, an offshoot of the internationally operating Postcode Lotteries.

  • If you want to participate in the Postcode Lottery, you need a ticket. One ticket costs 12.50 euros and you participate in the drawings for one month. Each player can buy a maximum of three tickets per month.
  • To participate, you must enter your address. A code will be generated from the zip code and street address. This code consists of five digits of your postal code and a street code consisting of two letters.
  • With one postal code ticket, you will be entered into five drawings per month.
  • In the first four draws you have the chance to win 10, 1,000 and 10,000 euros. In each of these draws, 30,022 tickets will be drawn. The drawn postal codes will be published every Friday.
  • Only one ticket will be drawn for the monthly prize in the fifth drawing of the month. The prize will be divided between two groups, and for each group the prize of 700,000 euros will be distributed among all winners with the drawn postal code.
  • So if you play the Postcode Lottery and win, the prize can be between 10 and 700,000 euros.
  • Once you have won, you will be informed of your prize in writing – either by e-mail or by post. The prize will be paid within 28 days exclusively to the account used to pay for the tickets.
  • The Postcode Lottery is considered reputable and is supervised by the competent gambling supervisory authority from Mainz.
