NoteIt app: Send messages via widget – this is how it works

by Pramith

With the NoteIt app, two linked smartphone users can send each other drawn notes. To do this, it is necessary to synchronise two accounts and drag a widget onto the home screen.

How the NoteIt Drawing App works

The NoteIt Drawing app is downloadable from the App Store for iPhone users.

  • After downloading, you will need to register. However, you can also log in using your Apple account.
  • To connect with another user of your choice, you must either share your link code with someone or type in one you have already received.
  • After you click on “Link”, the two accounts are connected. Note that you can only use NoteIt with one person. To send drawings to another person, the connection must be broken and a new, different code entered.
  • Now you can send personal drawings to each other. This works with the “+” in the upper right corner. In the lower screen you can select different pens and colours and then draw something with your finger. The “Send” button in the top right corner sends the note.
  • You can always see your last sent drawing in the app as well as the last 20 pieces you have been sent.
  • After 15 minutes at the latest, the sent note will then appear on the home screen of the linked user, provided that the user has dragged the respective widget there.

Add widgets to the home screen

In order to see the drawings you have received on your screen, you need to add a widget. Otherwise, you will only see the note in the app. You will not receive a push notification.

  • For this you must have at least iOS 14 installed on your IPhone.
  • Go into edit mode on your home screen. To do this, press and hold on an app or an empty space. A “+” will then appear in the top left corner.
  • You can then select the NoteIt app widget, set the size and click on “Add widget”. Then drag the widget to the desired position. Finally, click on “Done”.
