You do not update the Apple Airtag location yourself. This is done automatically by the Where is? network
Update the location of the Apple Airtag: Important information
If you are using an Apple Airtag, you can look up the last location via the Where is? app.
- All you have to do is select the relevant Airtag in the app. If you are connected to the Internet, you will automatically be shown the last location of the tracker
- However, this depends on several factors, which must be taken into account when tracking. Airtags make use of the Where Is? network, which connects iOS devices and the trackers via the built-in Bluetooth connection.
- Airtags immediately connect to the Bluetooth signal of an iOS device, which then records the position and uploads it to the network. The more iOS devices in the vicinity, the more precisely the tracker can be located
- At the same time, the number of compatible devices increases the frequency of updates. It is therefore not possible to say exactly when the location of the airtag will be updated.
- For this reason, you are likely to receive location updates more frequently in areas with many people, such as airports or metropolitan areas, than in rural areas.
- Tip: Use the Notify me when found function within the app to inform you of the airtag’s whereabouts as soon as a location update is available.
