iOS 15: These hidden features you should know

The new iOS 15 system for Apple mobile devices is coming. The update offers many new features that may well be hidden. Some of them offer you more convenience in your daily use of your smartphone

  • Translate: If you highlight a text in a foreign language on a website or in an app, you can also have the text translated immediately. To do this, tap the highlighted text once and select “Translate” from the menu. To translate in any application, go to the settings and tap on “Translate – Mode: On device”.
  • Text size: You can set the text size either for the entire device or individually for each app. To do this, go to Settings and tap “Text size” at the bottom of the list. Tap the plus sign next to the app for which you want to change the text size.
  • Alternatively, add the “Text size” in the settings directly to the control centre. If you now open an app, you can go directly to the control centre by swiping down from the top right. Now leave your finger on the text size symbol for a little longer. A menu will open in which you can easily change the text size for this app using the slider.
  • Scan: This feature allows you to add text to the photo or camera app from any interface. For example, open your camera app and point the camera at a phone number written on a piece of paper. Tap the number. You can now save it or call it.

Night mode and co.: These are also hidden functions

On iOS 15, there are more hidden features you might like:

Night mode: Until now it was not possible to switch off the night mode for the iPhone camera. With iOS 15, however, you can do this. Deactivate the mode by going to “Camera – Keep settings” in the settings and deactivating the button at Night mode. If you want to reactivate the mode, you can also do this directly in the camera app.

  • Find your iPhone: If you have lost your iPhone when it is switched off, you can also find it this way. If you have activated the Find My iPhone function, it will also be found in switched-off mode under iOS 15. In this case, your iPhone is set to a state with low power consumption. Since the Bluetooth transmitter remains active, your iPhone can be found.
  • Video playback: Your iPhone’s default player has new controls. These allow you to change the playback speed of a video.

Other useful features: This is also hidden in iOS 15

If you want to record the activity of your apps or receive notifications from the weather app, then this is possible on iOS 15.

  • Weather App Notifications:Is the weather changing and you want to be informed about it? This feature is currently only available in select regions of the world. If it is available from you, go to the Weather App in the list of locations. Tap on the three dots at the top right and then on “Messages”.
  • Account Recovery Contacts :Should you ever use your contact details for iCloud and Co., you can get help from trusted contact persons. To do this, go to Settings and tap your Apple ID. Select “Password and Security – Account Recovery”. Here you can add a contact person you trust.
  • Siri:If you want to share a video with someone, you can also do so via Siri finish. To do this, Siri must be activated. Once that’s the case, you can tell her that, for example, you want to share a video you just watched with a specific person from your contacts.
