Using WhatsApp without a mobile phone – here’s how

If you want to use WhatsApp without a mobile phone, there are several ways to do so. We present two options for using WhatsApp.

WhatsApp Web: Use Messenger without a mobile phone

With WhatsApp Web, you can use WhatsApp not only on your smartphone, but also on your computer.

• You can both reach for WhatsApp Web to use the messenger on the PC in the browser. Alternatively, you can also download and install WhatsApp as software, use WhatsApp for Windows or WhatsApp for macOS.

• You only need your mobile phone for the one-time setup. After that, you remain permanently logged in on the up to 4 connected devices, unless you disconnect on your smartphone. The connection will also be disconnected if you do not use WhatsApp on your mobile for longer than 14 days.

• At the moment, the functions on the connected devices are still limited. The connected devices cannot fix chats, send live locations or accept invitations to groups. Also, you may not be able to send messages to contacts who are using a very old phone with a very old version of WhatsApp.

BlueStacks: Use WhatsApp without a mobile phone

If you want to do without a smartphone completely, this is also possible. However, you still need a phone number for this, which can also come from the fixed network.

• First, download the free BlueStacks App Player for Windows or Mac OS and install the software.

• Click on the search at the top left and enter “WhatsApp”. Select the appropriate search result.

• Now you need to log in with your Google account. If you don’t have one, you can simply create a Google Account.

• Download WhatsApp and wait until the installation is complete. Now you can launch the application.

• For registration, you need a mobile or landline number that is not yet used for WhatsApp. You will then receive an SMS.

If you cannot receive the SMS, you can then request a call. Here, the code is read out to you by a computer voice.

You can then use WhatsApp as usual on your PC. Your contacts should save the number you are using.
