Tips for shipping skis cheaply
There are various providers where you can ship your skis within Germany or to Austria, for example. However, some service providers are very expensive. We’ll show you how you can have your skis transported cheaply.
- Providers such as DHL, UPS or GLS are expensive when shipping skis. For example, national shipping with DHL costs around 43 euros. Internationally around 3 euros extra
- However, there are service providers such as iLoxx, which ship skis more cheaply. Here you only pay 12.90 euros for a size of 200x30x20cm. In addition, iLoxx will collect your ski parcel from you. The price from Germany to Austria is around 20.90 euros
- You must note, however, that only two skis packed together are meant here. You must send poles, ski boots and other equipment separately via iLoxx parcel shipping. However, a parcel with a maximum weight of 40 kg and dimensions of 200x300cm only costs 7.90 euros
- With GLS you can send skis with a maximum length of 200 cm for around 16 euros. However, GLS will only collect the skis from your home for an extra charge of 4 euros
Packing skis correctly for shipping
So that you don’t have any problems when shipping your skis and they reach your vacation destination safely, we have put together a few tips for you on how to pack your skis correctly.
- Note that skis must be shipped separately from ski poles and boots. With most shipping service providers, the dimensions are 200x30x20cm.
- Hook your skis and place them in sufficient bubble wrap. Wrap them well so that they are not damaged during transportation. Pay attention to all corners and edges so that they are well packed. An additional ski bag can also do no harm if it corresponds to the dimensions
- Place the skis in a box that matches the dimensions of the parcel sender. Seal it well with parcel tape
- You can generate and print out the shipping label online from any provider. Fix it clearly visible in the middle of the parcel so that the code is straight and therefore easy to scan.
