DALL-E mini: What is it and how do I use it?

by Pramith

DALL-E mini is “only” the little brother of DALL-E, but it is still a very exciting AI programme. To avoid confusion, it is now called Craiyon.

DALL-E mini – What you should know

DALL-E mini, which has since been renamed Craiyon, was developed by OpenAI, just like DALL-E, DALL-E2 and ChatGPT. All programmes belong to the so-called artificial intelligence and have been the talk of the town for some time due to their enormous further development.

  • The web tool Craiyon belongs to the image-generating artificial intelligence. This means that the programme creates images for you. The operation of the tool is very simply designed and basically self-explanatory, so you can get started right away.
  • In the text field of Craiyon you enter a term and then exercise a little patience. You should be as precise as possible when choosing the term(s) you give the AI. The more precisely you specify what you want, the better the result that Craiyon presents to you.
  • Craiyon then creates nine images based on your input, which you may then use. If you would like to revise one or two details, you can easily do this with one of the common image editing programmes.

Craiyon – These are the versions of DALL-E Mini

The web tool Craiyon can be used free of charge. However, there are also variants that are subject to a charge; the decisive factor is above all the time factor.

  • While you have to wait one to two minutes with the “Forever Free” variant until Craiyon presents you with a result, you have to be patient for less than 45 seconds with “Supporter” and less than 20 seconds with “Professional”.
  • In addition, the images of Supporter and Professional are not watermarked.
  • As the name suggests, “Forever Free” is free of charge, “Supporter” costs you five US dollars a month and “Professional” can be used for 20 US dollars a month.
