With “Apprentice Bard”, Google is currently working on its own chatbot. This is also an artificial intelligent that is supposed to be a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Apprentice Bard: The Chatbot from Google
The Google chatbot is currently still in development. When exactly it will be released is still uncertain. A Google spokesperson said, “We continue to test our AI technology internally to make sure it’s helpful and safe, and we look forward to sharing more experiences externally soon.”
- Apprentice Bard: The English term means “aspiring bard” in German. Bards are poets and singers. Google’s AI chatbot is still in development, but has been available in Germany since 13 July 2023. Apprentice Bard reportedly has similar functions to ChatGPT.
- Development: According to cnbc.com, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai and AI head Jeff Dean said “Google could launch similar products this year.” According to reports, Google’s chatbot will be based on LaMDA artificial intelligence.
- Tasks: Google’s development team wants to take a conservative approach to their chatbot, using a question-and-answer format to enhance the search function. The conservative approach is intended to avoid “bad answers” damaging the reputation of artificial intelligences. Furthermore, the AI should be able to access much more up-to-date information than OpenAI’s competitors.
- Further projects: A total of 20 further products are to be launched on the market. These are all based on artificial intelligence. Exactly which products these are and what they can do will probably be revealed at the next Google I/O developer conference.
- ChatGPT: This is a language model based on artificial intelligence. It has been trained with a large amount of data from the internet. OpenAI’s AI is supposed to master some skills. These include writing code, passing exams and giving advice. However, ChatGPT sometimes gives misleading results.
Where is Bard AI better than ChatGPT?
Bard AI and ChatGPT are both great language models, but they have different strengths and weaknesses.
- Bard AI is better at answering questions fully and informatively, even if they are open-ended, challenging or strange.
- ChatGPT is better at producing creative content such as poems, codes, scripts, music tracks, emails, letters, etc.
