Cleaning the OLED screen: Here’s what you should look out for

by Johannes

If there is dust, fingerprints or other residue on your OLED screen after use, you should clean it. It’s quick and easy to do

Clean your OLED screen properly

Follow these steps to clean your OLED screen the best way possible:

  • For dust, soft microfibre cloths are best as they do not add scratches to the OLED screen.
  • However, these cloths also attract a lot of dust, especially after a long time without use. Therefore, you should shake the cloth out thoroughly before use.
  • For dust and dirt in the corners of the screen, a cloth is often not enough, a special brush is optimal for this.
  • With these long and soft brushes you can get the dust out of corners and edges. But be careful to move the dust out and not push it in deeper.
  • If dust is stuck too deep, the hoover will help you. Use a brush attachment and go carefully over the corners and edges with it.
  • Finally, you can apply a special nano spray after cleaning to seal the screen and give it lasting protection.

Avoid these mistakes

Consider the following points to avoid damage to your OLED screen:

  • Never clean with a wet cloth, water could enter the unit and cause a short circuit.
  • For wetting, you should only use tap water or distilled water. There are also special screen cleaners available.
  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or alcohol, as these would damage the surface of the OLED screen.
  • Glass cleaner should also be avoided, if you still want to use glass cleaner, use a mild cleaner and dilute it with water.
  • To be on the safe side, disconnect your screen from the power while cleaning.
