If your PS4 is no longer displaying an image, there could be several reasons. In this article, we’ll show you some possible solutions.
No picture from the PlayStation 4: Check the cables
Often, the problem is with the cable connection. If the HDMI cable is loose, you’ll only hear sound or nothing at all.
- First, check the HDMI cable on the back of the PlayStation.
- Even the slightest movement of the PlayStation can cause the cable to come loose.
- If the cable is loose, you’ll often still hear sound but see nothing but a black screen.
- So, push the cable back into the port firmly and securely.
- If you still aren’t getting a picture and/or sound, check the cable for damage and replace it if necessary.
- You can also test whether the cable is intact by connecting another device, such as your laptop, to the TV via HDMI.
- The HDMI port on your PlayStation may also be defective. Use a different HDMI cable to check this.
PS4: No Picture—Change Resolution
If no picture is displayed, this may also be due to an incorrect resolution. In that case, you should change it on your PlayStation 4.
- When turning on your PS4, hold down the Power button until the system beeps a second time.
- You’ll now enter the PlayStation’s system menu, where you can adjust various settings.
- Select “Change Resolution” and click “OK.”
- You can now change the resolution. A resolution that’s compatible with your TV—which you can find in your TV’s user manual—is essential for a good picture.
PS4: No Picture – Update Your TV’s Firmware
If you still don’t have a picture, you should check your TV’s firmware and update it if necessary.
- The procedure is the same for almost every TV.
- First, go to your TV’s settings menu.
- Under menu items such as “Info” or “System,” you’ll find the “Firmware” submenu.
- Check for updates. To do this, the device must be connected to the Internet.
- Outdated firmware can lead to display issues, among other problems.
- If new updates are found, you should install them to bring the system up to date.
