You could actually install Google Chrome on your Kindle Fire HD without any problems if the browser were available in the Amazon App Store. We’ll show you how to use the browser on your Amazon tablet by sideloading it.
Step-by-step guide to getting Chrome on the Kindle Fire
Even if Amazon doesn’t offer certain apps in its own App Store, they can still be installed:
- To do this, go to the ‘Device’ sub-section in Settings and tick the box next to ‘Allow installation of apps’.
- You’ll then need the ES File Explorer app from the Amazon App Store to access all the files on your Kindle Fire HD.
- Next, download the Chrome browser’s APK file from our download page – ideally straight onto your Kindle Fire. Otherwise, you’ll need to transfer the downloaded file from your PC to your tablet via a USB cable.
- Use ES File Explorer to navigate to the Chrome APK file and tap on it.
- You’ll need to confirm the installation window that opens. After a short installation, you’ll be able to use the Google browser on your Amazon tablet.
