View WhatsApp backup on Google Drive: What you need to know

Viewing a WhatsApp backup on Google Drive is not easily possible because the data is encrypted for security. There is only one way to read the contents of the backup

WhatsApp backup cannot be viewed on Google Drive

WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption for chats. This means that your conversations are only shared with the person or group you are exchanging texts with.

• All WhatsApp messages are protected by a cryptographic lock. Only the message recipient has the key needed to decrypt and read the texts.
• Accordingly, all WhatsApp backups are also encrypted and therefore cannot be viewed on Google Drive. The Google service does not have the necessary key for decoding.
• To access the data, you need to restore the WhatsApp backup on your Android or iOS device.
