New Samsung TVs can directly access the storage on your Galaxy smartphone. This requires Tizen 9, One UI 7, and a few enabled options.
Samsung is integrating its ecosystem more closely: With Tizen 9, compatible TVs can wirelessly access the storage of a Galaxy smartphone or tablet. The feature is called Storage Share and, according to “Sam Mobile,” is available on Galaxy devices running One UI 7.0 or later. Prerequisite: Both devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and logged in with the same Samsung account
Requirements and activation of Storage Share
- On your Galaxy device, activate Storage Share via the settings under “Connected Devices” (starting with One UI 7.0). Additionally, your TV must be registered in the SmartThings app. Then pair the TV and smartphone via Bluetooth by searching for the TV on your phone and confirming the connection.
- Once all conditions are met, open the “Connected Devices” section on the TV via the home screen. There, select your Galaxy smartphone or tablet to establish the connection.
Tizen Smart Hub: App hub with nearly 1,000 apps and direct access to Galaxy storage
- Tizen is more than just the interface of your Samsung TV: With the Smart Hub, the operating system provides a central home screen for apps, live TV, streaming, and gaming—similar to a PC desktop. Thanks to its own app store, according to “Netzwelt,” nearly 1,000 apps are available to you, from Netflix to Spotify, and through a Samsung account, profiles, app sorting, and settings can be saved separately for each household member.
- You can browse the storage of your Galaxy device using the TV’s file manager. You can view photos and videos, but documents cannot currently be opened or edited directly. According to “Sam Mobile,” you can stop sharing at any time by disconnecting the Bluetooth connection to the TV in your smartphone’s settings.
