Nightmare Dungeons are part of the endgame content in Diablo 4 and put players to a hard test. They entice with loot and quantities of experience points.

Diablo 4: Nightmare Dungeons Explained

If you want to effectively farm experience points, find loot or try out builds in Diablo 4, Nightmare Dungeons are the way to go. They are a more difficult variant of the normal dungeons and you unlock them from world level 3.

  • At world level 3, the dungeons come in tiers 1 to 20, while from world level 4, the tiers range from 21 to 100. The dungeon tier affects the enemy level and increases it by 1 each time.
  • This means that you can encounter opponents with levels over 150 who will demand everything from you. Furthermore, nightmare dungeons are modified and offer, for example, more traps or effects that can be deadly.
  • In addition, you may only die either twelve or four times, depending on the tier. Nightmare dungeons from tier 21 onwards only allow four deaths. Otherwise, you only need to complete the dungeon to safely receive four items as a reward in addition to the loot and experience points.
  • Loot is available at the highest ranks, including legendary and unique items. Furthermore, you can level up glyphs at the end of a Nightmare Dungeon, which is necessary for the endgame.
  • You can only gain access to the Nightmare Dungeons via Nightmare Seals. To do this, you must have played through the main story and completed ten whispers for the Whispering Tree. There you will receive a Tier 1 Nightmare Seal and be able to enter your first dungeon.
  • You will receive Nightmare Seals after each successful completion of a Nightmare Dungeon. If you have obtained a Tier 3 seal, you can craft the seals yourself from that moment on. Nightmare Seals are also dropped by world bosses.
