Mew Glitch: Catch the legendary Pokémon
The Mew Glitch is the only way besides Event Codes to catch the legendary Pokémon in the first three editions, for example Yellow. There is an effective way for you to discover the cute monster early in the game:
- To use the Mew glitch, you will need an Abra. You can either get the Psycho Pokémon for 120 to 230 coins in the Rocket game hall or catch it wild. Abra stays on routes 24 and 25 (Blue/Red) or 5, 6, 7 and 8 (Yellow).
- Save the game. After that, do not save again until you encounter Mew. After that, head to the Nugget Bridge and cross it. Be prepared for several trainer fights.
- Keep to the left after the nugget bridge. There you will find a spot of water right next to tall grass. In front of the grass there is an empty spot between the water and the wall, which you don’t enter yet.
- Enter the empty spot right next to the water and press start. This is important so that the trainer in the grass doesn’t catch you. Then teleport away with Abra.
- If it worked, the trainer should notice you, recognizable by the exclamation mark above the sprite. However, since you teleported away, you will not be challenged. Then go back over the nugget bridge directly to route 24.
- There you just have to defeat the first three trainers on the left side. After that, fight the teenager facing north. Be sure to start the fight a few squares away from him, otherwise your game will freeze.
- Directly after the battle, teleport away with Abra. You will stand in front of the next Pokémon Center. Go inside.
- After that, go back to the nugget bridge. After some short time on the bridge, your menu will open by itself. Close it and Mew will appear.
- The Mew has level 7 and is quite difficult to catch if you don’t have enough balls with you. Save the game and Mew will be part of your team.
