Air conditioner for the bedroom: costs for device and installation

by Pramith

The costs for the air conditioner in the bedroom consist of purchase, installation and operation. Here you can read how high the individual prices are for this.

Cost of an air conditioner for the bedroom

The cost of an air conditioner for the bedroom depends on the type of system as well as the cooling capacity.

  • For air conditioners, you decide between a mobile or a mounted split unit.
  • A split unit consists of two parts. An indoor motor draws in, filters and cools the room air. The unit outside carries the cooling compressor.
  • Mobile air conditioners are cheaper but cool less well than installed split units. In addition, mobile units lack good workmanship.
  • The costs for mobile units range from 100 to 800 euros. There are big differences depending on the brand and model.
  • Split systems are more expensive, costing between 1,500 and 2,000 euros, but they are also far more efficient.
  • The installation should definitely be carried out by a craftsman, as he can determine the correct installation location, knows and can prevent problems during installation and brings the necessary working materials.
  • The compressor of the split units is mounted on the outside wall. The tradesman drills the hole through the wall, places hoses and equipment correctly on the wall and connects the electrics. The latter, above all, may only be carried out by a specialist.
  • The installation of the air conditioning system depends greatly on the provider, the necessary effort, tools and travel times. For example, the installation can cost 300 euros or even over 1,000 euros. It’s best to get a quote from several different providers.
  • Assuming you use the air conditioner in your bedroom for about four months per year at two hours per day, that’s about 250 hours in total.
  • For 250 hours, the operating costs for a mounted split system are approx. 40 euros per year. For the mobile version, the operating costs are approx. 60 euros per year.
