This problem often presents a challenge, especially when travelling: the clothes are completely wrinkled, but there is no iron at hand. However, with a reach for common everyday items, the wrinkles can be easily smoothed out. These are the three best tips:

With a hairdryer

A hairdryer can do much more than just dry hair – it can be used to smooth out wrinkles in minutes.

  • Dress your wrinkled garment and spray it damp with a little water. If necessary, you can also dampen it with a cloth.
  • Blow-dry the area with the wrinkles from the inside and from the outside. Here you can either blow dry through the neckline, the sleeves or from below.

With a pot

A saucepan serves the same purpose as an iron when used properly.

  • Fill a saucepan halfway with hot water. Make sure the bottom of the pot is completely clean and cannot leave any stains.
  • Now carefully pull the pot over the wrinkled areas of the garment like an iron.
  • This method also works if the hot water has been poured out of the pot beforehand. However, the pot must still be very hot.

In the shower

The hot shower water creates steam that smooths the wrinkles out of clothes.

  • Hang the garment on the shower bar.
  • Lock all doors and windows and turn on hot water in the shower. Be careful not to get clothes wet in the process.
  • Wait for about 15 minutes until the steam has smoothed the clothes. To save water, you can do this while you are taking a shower.
