Amazon Prime is convenient – fast shipping, free eBooks and more. But how high are the costs for Amazon’s premium service?

Amazon Prime: These are the costs

A trial membership lasts one month and is free for you. After that, you pay 89.90 euros a year or alternatively 8.99 euros a month. For students, the first 6 months are free. So if you pay annually, you save 50 per cent. The advantages of Amazon Prime for you and your family are:

  • Prime shipping is free, as is same-day delivery.
  • You pay less with express shipping.
  • Use the Kindle e-book lending library for free, as well as Amazon Music with two million songs.
  • Get unlimited storage for your photos in Amazon Cloud Drive.
  • Customers in Germany get free access to Amazon Prime Video.

Limitations of Amazon Prime

There is one restriction, however: Some goods are excluded from Prime benefits. These include items…

  • .. which require a special delivery service because of their size or nature.
  • .. that are offered and shipped by Marketplace sellers and are not marked Prime.
  • .. without a parental rating that must be specially delivered.
  • .. with special status, such as orders of a savings or magazine subscription or personalised gift cards.
  • .. that do not have the Prime logo on the product page.
