Copying WhatsApp groups is a function that many users of the messenger would like to have. This feature is only possible via a detour
Copy WhatsApp groups: Procedure
WhatsApp does not offer a direct option for copying groups. Instead, you can use the group link to invite the members to the new group.
- Start WhatsApp to do this. Select the option to create a new chat or group. This is the icon with the square and a pen.
- Click on New group and start the creation process. You need at least one additional contact for the group.
- Open the group after creating it. Select the group name there to obtain the other options for this group.
- Depending on your device, you will find an option within the group information to invite contacts to the group with a link. On iPhones, for example, the option is called Invite with link
- Then copy the link. It is saved to the clipboard and can now be pasted into the chat of the original group.
- Once you have integrated the new group link into the chat of the old group, the remaining group members can click on it. They will immediately be redirected to the new group and can accept the invitation.
- This method is recommended if you want to create an exact copy of the original group if the original creator is no longer active.
- Attention: If you want to copy a group and not invite all the original members to the new one, this is only possible separately. You must create a new group and add the desired contacts individually.
