If you want to set up your Wi-Fi repeater, this can be done very quickly with most models. In addition to the initial setup, however, there are many other things to consider that can affect the repeater in use and weaken its performance

WLAN repeater: How to set up the device correctly

Setup is usually carried out using the WPS procedure. To do this, simply press the respective buttons on the router and repeater. The devices then connect automatically.

  • If your router does not have a WPS function, you can also connect the repeater manually using a cable. A connection to the computer is sufficient for this. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. It is often sufficient to call up the IP address printed on the back of the repeater
  • Most repeaters work with “WPA” or “WPA2” encryption. For the devices to cooperate, a suitable security standard must be selected on the router
