If you don’t like the voice of your TomTom sat nav, you can download various other voices for free in addition to the standard voices. You can choose from both male and female voices.
TomTom Home: Download free voices for your sat nav
If your device is a few years older, you will need to manage it using the TomTom Home software. If you have a newer device for which you need the “MyDrive Connect” software, follow the instructions in the second paragraph.
- Connect your navigation device to your computer via USB cable and start TomTom Home.
- Click on the “Traffic info, voices, speed cameras, etc.” button in the main menu.
- Then click on “Voices” and select whether you want to download a “Recorded Voice” or a “Computer Voice”.
- Select one of the many voices and click on the “Add” button. It will then be installed on your device.
MyDrive Connect: Download free voices
If you’re using a newer navigation system from TomTom, you’ll need to reach for the MyDrive Connect software.
- Connect your navigation system to your computer using the USB cable and start MyDrive Connect.
- The voices are available online in the browser. This link will take you to the voices shop, where there is also free content. Choose any voice there and put it in the shopping cart.
- Click on the “My Content” button at the top left of the “MyDrive Connect” menu.
- Check the box next to the voice you have just “purchased” and then click on “Start Download”. The voice will be downloaded and installed on your TomTom.
- Once the process is complete, you can disconnect your TomTom from the PC again.
