iCloud: Logging in does not work – what to do?

If logging in to your iCloud no longer works, there can be several reasons. With our tips you can find out why you can no longer get into the iCloud. After that you can solve the problem more easily.

Reasons why logging into iCloud doesn’t work

Your iCloud is where you store photos, contacts, backups and many other files and information that help you use your Apple product. If you can no longer log into your iCloud, you may be missing access to many different important files. Therefore, it is important to first determine why the log-in is not working.

• iCloud requires your Apple ID to log in. The Apple ID is the email address with which you are registered with Apple. So check your mail address first. You may have used a different mail address to create your Apple ID or mistyped it.
• Sometimes, however, Apple experiences disruptions and server problems. For example, you can check whether maintenance work is being carried out or whether there is a malfunction online via Apple Support and Apple System Status.
• If the log-in problem only occurs when you are not on a Wi-Fi network, make sure mobile data is enabled.
• If you have forgotten your password, it must first be reset for a successful log-in.

How to reset your iCloud password

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it via the iCloud website. First enter your email address, i.e. your Apple ID, in the log-in area.

• After entering your email address, you will be asked to enter your password. If you don’t remember your password, click on “Forgot your Apple ID or password?” under the input masks.
• You will be redirected to a page where you have to enter your Apple ID again, i.e. your e-mail address.
• Next you will be asked for the mobile phone number you used to register with Apple.
• Check your mobile phone. On it, you should have received a request to change your password, which you confirm on your phone.
• You will now be directed to the settings of the mobile phone, where you can change your password after entering your mobile phone pin
• If your password has been changed via this, you can log in with the new password
