Raspberry Pi: Use Amazon Prime – all info

by Pramith

You can also use Amazon Prime Video on the Raspberry Pi without an Amazon Fire TV Stick. For this purpose, we present three variants to you.

Stream Amazon Prime Video on the Raspberry Pi

If you like to stream Amazon Prime Video and have a Raspberry Pi, then you can also do without the Amazon Fire TV Stick, because the stick might not be worth it for you. After all, you can turn the Raspberry Pi into a media centre.

  • The easiest way to stream Amazon Prime Video on the Raspberry Pi is, of course, to use the browser. Chrome is available here, among other things.
  • In addition to Amazon Prime Video, you can also use other streaming services such as Netflix or Sky Go.
  • You can also install an app for Amazon Prime Video on the Raspberry Pi, although this is not released by Amazon itself and only uses the interface.

Using the Raspberry Pi as a media centre

You can use the Raspberry Pi as a media centre and install apps such as Amazon Prime Video on it by installing Kodi or LibreELEC.

  • These are projects that let you turn the Raspi into a media centre that you can use from an SD card.
  • The Kodinerds have a directory of ports of popular apps for Kodi, which is already included with LibreELEC.
  • Allow unknown sources by clicking on Settings, System, Add-ons and enabling unknown sources for Kodi.
  • In Kodi, you can now go to the Add-ons in the main menu and search for “Kodinerds” to install the directory.
  • In the add-on repository you will find the directory Sandmann79s Repository. Install this and then find the app Amazon in the video add-ons.
  • In the Amazon Prime Video add-on, establish the connection and then you can log in.
  • Playback may not work immediately because data still has to be downloaded. However, this is done automatically.
