Sending a gift on Amazon: This is how it works

You have the option of sending an item as a gift on Amazon. We have put together this practical tip for you on how exactly this works and what you need to bear in mind.

Amazon: Send purchased item as a gift

If you order an item from Amazon, you can also have it sent as a gift.

• To do this, place the item you want in the shopping basket as usual. Call up the shopping basket and tick the box “This is a gift”.
• The next step is to change the delivery address. To do this, click on “Change” next to “Delivery address”. This will open a window where you can add a new shipping address.
• Enter the name of the recipient as well as the street, house number and city including postcode. A telephone number for queries must also be entered. You can enter your own mobile phone number here. Then confirm that the gift is to be delivered to this address.
• Check your payment method. If everything fits, confirm the payment with the “Buy now” button.

Select gift option afterwards

If you decide that you would like to send the item as a gift after you have made the purchase, you can still select the gift option afterwards.

• To do this, go to “My orders” and select the item “Open order”. In the order details you will find the button “Change” next to “Gift options”. Click on it and adjust the option.
• Prerequisite for subsequent customisation: The purchased goods must not yet be in the shipping process. You can always find out the status of your order on your Amazon account in the personal area under “My orders”.
• Caution: Not every product can be sent as an Amazon gift. If you see “Not available as a gift” in your shopping cart, the item cannot be shipped with gift packaging.
